Greetings from Lyric Opera of Los Angeles.
It's been a few months since our "plucky" and "important venture" (LA Times - June 15, 2010) of Wagner's
Die Feen
at the Pasadena Playhouse, as an official Partner with LA Opera as part of Ring Festival LA. I hope you all had the opportunity to see the production. We had such an incredible time bringing the opera to life, and being a part of the re-opening of the Pasadena Playhouse.
And now I'm pleased to announce an upcoming concert featuring some of LOLA's excellent talent!
Come and enjoy the intensity of opera, the passion of musical theater and the enthusiasm of Jazz, all lit by candlelight and ignited with passion.
Set the night ablaze with the phenomenal cast and music of "
Voices on Fire: A Night of Passionate Singing

About Founder's Forum:
Founder's Forum is a non-profit organization dedicated to the arts and education, headquartered in the historic Founder's Center. Founder's Forum was founded in 1994. In 2004, the Founder's Forum, led by Helen R. McNeil, hosted the First Annual International Choral Festival. The Festival featured sacred and secular choirs from the Los Angeles area. In 2011, Founder's Forum reintroduces the Choral Festival, as a two day choral spectacular, featuring the Albert J. McNeil Jubilee Singers and many others.
The "Founder's Concert Series," performed in the fall of each year, endeavors to unite Southern California with multi-cultural, cross-generational musical experiences. In this inaugural year, the concert series is presenting four shows, from Brazilian to Opera.
The Forum produces "Friday Night Jazz" on the third Friday of the month. What's that? "The Third Friday of the Month." (A chant sung by the regulars.) Unique and sought after local jazz musicians play-a different one, different flavor, each month. You can find "Friday Night Jazz" downstairs in "Dr. Bill's Club" from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on what? "The Third Friday of the Month!"
In addition, the Forum sponsors health fairs and Town Hall Community meetings and is developing several community programs, including an adult literacy program and an elementary school arts program. Ran solely from grants and sponsors, the Forum exists to educate and promote multi-cultural, cross generational performing arts and education in the Los Angeles area.
About Lyric Opera of Los Angeles:
Lyric Opera of Los Angeles (LOLA) was founded by Laura Sage and her father, Dr. Robert Sage, with the specific goal of presenting lesser-known operatic works and giving young singers an opportunity to perform in a semi-professional setting with orchestra, full sets & costumes; as well as to make opera more accessible, both dramatically and financially, for the general public by keeping ticket prices as low as possible. Over the years we have had the great pleasure of performing in some of the wonderful historic venues available in the Los Angeles area, including The Los Angeles Theatre, the Downtown Palace Theatre, and the Pasadena Playhouse. We have presented the West Coast premieres of works such as “Der Vampyr” by Heinrich Marschner, “Goyescas” by Enriqué Granados, “Cendrillon” by Pauline Viardot, “Abu Hassan” by Weber, and “Manon Lescaut” by Daniel François-Esprit Auber. We have also presented works such as “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” and “Bastien und Bastienne” by Mozart, “l’Elisir d’Amore” and “Rita” by Donizetti, and “Un Giorno di Regno” by Verdi. In June of 2010, LOLA was an official Partner with Los Angeles Opera in the Ring Festival LA and presented the U.S. staged premiere of the first opera written by Richard Wagner – “Die Feen” – at the Pasadena Playhouse.
Hope to see you there!!
All the best,
~Laura Sage
